weirdest hand ive ever played
this happended tonight on a friends computer so no hand history sorry...
2-4 nl 2 folds hero raises 14 from cutoff with Qs10s (460 behind) 2 folds BB calls (560 behind) flop A 10 5 rainbow..check check turn 5 making 2 diamonds..check check river 10...BB shoves for 560.. sorry for lack of real content but it was the craziest hand ive ever played I think. Ive definitly seen this play a lot but usually when oppenent has either bet or called bets prior to river. I cant recall ever seeing the overbet all in into a 30 pot with the action checked all the way down... anyway..does anyone ever call? |

Re: weirdest hand ive ever played
Dude, you have three of those tens now. Call.
When the action is this slow, massive overbets are more often bluffs than when theres a lot more action. |

Someone told me this was the weirdest hand ever played.
That person lied to me. |

Re: weirdest hand ive ever played
LOL yeah massive overbets into a $30 pot = bluffs! I'd actually put him on A10, AA or 55.. it might seem terribly tight but it looks like he caught a monster and is hoping you caught the 10 on the river for the 2nd best boat. No other real reason to push like that over such a small pot.

Re: weirdest hand ive ever played
bad players do stupid things.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?478649 Edit: my post was obviosly completely unhelp. The above hand is to show that poeple can make really bad over bet bluffs for no reason. But this hand is pretty diffrent, and probably a fold. He somehow ahead more often then he is bluffing you. The rest of the times you are chopping, unless he is being real stupid with a five, which seems unlikley. He could very well be trying to push you off a chop, but so be it I guess? |

[/ QUOTE ] Well, what I meant was that people will overbet the nuts when it seems like somebody else might actually have a hand. Here, in a small pot, theres no reason to think somebody has a hand that can call. So, the overbet may be just some random something. or a worse T. |

Re: weirdest hand ive ever played
I think you have to fold. No way he can put you on as big a hand as you have, which makes this even more strange. Stupid play, as I'm sure you would have called an overbet of 3x or 4x the pot.

Re: weirdest hand ive ever played
Strange indeed. My default way of looking at this is that you've got a $30 pot before the all in. You have to think you're splitting the vast majority of the time. So, you're risking $560 to win $15. That doesn't seem very profitable, so I usually fold.
However, in this case, the checks and all in make no sense. Perhaps he is bluffing more than 50% of the time here. What other observations had you made about the player? Had he moved all in on any previous hands? Was he loose aggressive? |
