flopped straight, Raise out of no where on river
no reads on villian has seen 45% of the flops in 10 hands
anyone advocate a smooth call on the end? I was a little weary of raising. Is this value raise a little thin? Smooth call this... only AJ beats you. He played it like AJ though... but I can't fold this.

Re: flopped straight, Raise out of no where on river
Call, no way theres a fold here anywhere. He could be "slowplaying" KK/QQ/JJ, two pair as well as AJ and J9.
Pushing on the other hand is debatable. |

Re: flopped straight, Raise out of no where on river
Personally I'd rule out KK/QQ because there was no raise preflop.
I'd rule out the two pair hands because he didn't raise the turn. I'm expecting to see TT/J9/AJ or some kind of random air hand way more than any of the two categories above. I'd play it the same way and call the bet at the end. |

Re: flopped straight, Raise out of no where on river
The way this hand went I think that you are probably ahead on the river, I think an AJ would have warranted a raise before the flop. However, since he has been playing quite a few hands IMO a flat call would be good. He could have something like QT, or KT, I think a KQ would have been raised before the flop. If I calculated right you are getting around 3-1 on your money on the river so I think a call might be good because you only need to win 1/4 times to break even so if you think you are ahead that often I would call. I hope this is right lol.

Re: flopped straight, Raise out of no where on river
If you had Villain as a 45 VPIP through a couple hundred hands then this could easily be something like K6, or maybe even Q6. There's still a good chance that it is K6 or Q6. Could also be a flopped 2 pair, but that's a little less likely. I probably push and expect Villain to instacall with a rivered two pair. If he flopped the nuts, tough beat.

i pushed.
There was some awesome level 0 thinking by villian in this hand. He TURBO called my AI. Only to turn over KQs and MHIG I'm glad a couple people aggreed with my push. I thought it would be silly not to push here. Monsters under the bed is bad. I think villian plays the set/twopair/AJ the same way. not getting it all in seems silly. |
