What TV show to watch?

Hi,

So I'm looking for a new television series to watch. I'll give you a short overview of the shows I like(d) and why I like(d) them:

Lost - Awesome premise, although at times frustrating development of plotline (slow and/or sporadic) and at times weird acting/dialogue. The mysteries make up for all that though.

Prison Break - Again, awesome premise although the whole 'genius plan, plan failed, another genius plan, plan failed, repeat' is getting old. I have good hopes for this season.

24 - Keeps ya hooked. Jack Bauer is a God. I like the characters of David Palmer, Jack and some of the 'old gang' (Tony, Curtis, Tony's Wife, forgot her name etc.) They lost me at the end of Season 5 but first four seasons were very entertaining.

ER - Yes, I know, not the coolest show on earth but the early seasons had awesome characters, they film it brilliantly and hospitals make for great dramatic situations.

The 4400 - The mystery of Season 1 was great. Who are they? Where do they come from? How did they get their powers etc... Season 2 was more character development which was also very interesting and S3 has been focused on the upcoming war. The main reason I like this show is the plotline. Characters (besides the little girl) are not that intruiging.


So, some of the options as I see them are:

Numb3ers - Saw a trailer for it. Seemed like a lot of mystery and a little bit of Lost meets 24, which sounds cool.

Deadwood - Just because it was popular in another thread. Checked it on imdb and saw it was a western, which is kinda turning me off.

The Wire - Know nothing about this, other than a short imdb viewer review. Sounds decent.

Invasion - Watched a couple of episodes sporadically. Characters seems really annoying.

Any other suggestions and if possible also what makes them good shows?

You can not go wrong with Deadwood or The Wire.
They are two of the best shows on TV. Deadwood> The Wire IMO.

The Shield is a great choice as well.

The current season of Deadwood is the best of any TV show I have ever watched.

I really only watch 2 shows consistently, House and 24. So I highly recommend House.
