Florida Card Rooms?
So, we're considering a week in Florida next month. I've done some Googling and found a few card rooms here and there. Any recommendations? We'll be in central florida, Orlando, naturally, so anything within an hour or so would be decent.
Thanks - Brian |

Don't bother, go to the beach instead.

Re: Florida Card Rooms?
Tampa or Daytona would be your two options, both are terrible. The only limits they offer are 1-2 or 2-2. Much better stuff to do in Orlando.

Agreed. Florida is Disney and Strip clubs. That is all. And I am a fan of both! Enjoy. If you must play, take your computer.

Thanks - Brian [/ QUOTE ] The only decent rooms in Florida are on the cruise ships, and I haven't been in so long that I wouldn't trust me for information. As others have said the land-based rooms are not worth the trip. |

Re: Florida Card Rooms?
There are lots of good home games in Orlando, and Hard Rock in Tampa have STT's up to 1k that are run. They also have Multi's.

Take your traveling partner to dinner or something. Don't bother playing in Florida, unless you find a decent home game or something.

Re: Florida Card Rooms?
I live in Daytona only a couple miles from the poker room (dog track) and would never go there to play serious poker. Haven't been in a couple years but when I was there the rake was up to $5 per hand, they used no quarters or half dollars to break down correct percentage of rake. Just rounded to next highest dollar and minimum one dollar each hand. No foldem, holdem with $2 maximum bet limit poker. I have to fly to vegas every three or four months to get my brick and mortar poker fix but money I save by not going to local poker room probably pays for it. Only a four + hour direct flight to vegas from Orlando so I consider Vegas the closest poker rooms. And I have flown as cheap as $179 round trip before the gas prices went up. Hopefully Florida will eventually change the $2 bet law someday.

Re: Florida Card Rooms?
If Florida ever changes the card room laws, this place will probably become a Poker Mecca.
The Hard Rock has, what, 50 tables? And they're PACKED for friggen $2 poker and over-juiced [censored] structure tournaments. |
