Default Video Poker advice...

any advice on the best places to play video poker (Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild, Double Bonus) in Vegas (in terms of best payouts)?? Also any advice on books to read to improve video poker strategy? I have basic strategy cards for these games so, in terms of basic play, I can make the correct decision almost every time but are there ways to increase one's expected winnings beyond that??

My understanding that the only VP game that has a player edge via perfect play is the Full Pay Deuces Wild. This game however is extremely rare. I believe most players gain a edge at Video Poker by playing optimally and acruing comps and rebates. There are also the situations when the royal flush jackpots grow to the point where there can be a positive expectation.

Look into books by Bob Dancer and Dan Paymar. You can find their info at the below links:

Shaggy listed two of the top VP authors.

You might also want to try the Yahoo Group vpFREE. The group maintains a database listing the best games in each casino as well as other info to help the player.

Or you can go to www.vptruth.com and learn the truth about what you are doing when you play video poker. HINT: It's trying to win money every time, not attain some absolutely meaningless long-term theoretcal percentage edge, or playing for comps. Play for the money, the comps will come either way.

Even better is you won't be asked for your credit card number by the author, there are his free winning strategies that u can use today, plus at least 5 years worth of articles available, also for free.

Here is a quote from that site.
You decide.

SPECIAL NOTE ON THE PROGRESSION FACTOR: Much of the criticism on this play strategy has come from those who do not understand that this is video poker denominational progression, and not Martingale progression. The increase in denomination is not a result of losing the hand before and then doubling up. Although only one part of the overall strategy, the progression is critical in that it allows that any one of a number of large winning hands that almost always occur during everyone’s sessions (thanks to DB [double bonus], DDB [double double bonus] or TBP [triple bonus poker]*), to completely recover any losses, and in most cases allows the player to attain the overall win goal. Without it, play would go on within the same denomination until the player is wiped out – or a royal flush is hit. Which do you think usually happens first?
