Stars 20/180 Blind vs. Blind Chip Leaders Clash
Converted by PokerGeek
PokerStars NL Hold'em Tournament - 300/600 Blinds (7 handed) I had just doubled up the hand before and we (BB and me) are the chip leaders with 23 left. The BB is solid, not too aggro. I usually would flat call this flop, but I decided to get tricky and make it look like a FD in case he had AA or AK. Thoughts on flop play? Re: Stars 20/180 Blind vs. Blind Chip Leaders Clash
By saying villian is solid here, I am guessing his range based on PF and flop play is AA, KK, QQ, AK, or KQ. You are behind only 6 of these scenarios, split in 4, and are WA in 14. I would also add that this looks like a poorly played AA or AK.
At any rate, I think you played it well. You have flopped a monster against a big stack that has already told you that he wants to play. You want to get the most of your chips in the middle the best way you can. I think leading here is also a good (if not better) line since if he raises you we get even more money in the pot, and villian will fold to a C/R if he has nothing anyway, winning you very little. I would not just C/C here because you are 1) out of position and 2) there are plenty of scare cards that could come on the turn. I wouldn't say that you should be worried that your opponent has any of these cards, but they might slow down your opponent real fast. Any heart, 10, Q, K, J can frustrate your attempts to stack villian. So yeah, lead or C/R. I prefer leading flop. |
