Default Early Gambool to set an image

Something I like to do very early on is take a couple of risks to build a good size stack for later on. Taking flips and raising with less than premium hand, like in the hand below. This can also lead to some less than ideal situations. The hand below is a typical hand i might raise with, not just early on either, deeper stack size does help though.

Too early here for any reads as this was about the 10th hand into the tourney.

If you're not going to call this, you shouldn't be in the pot to begin with.

Im thinking this guy has something like AQ and really does not want you to draw, I think that you have 9 full outs, I don't think he would have bet this much if he had a draw to a higher flush. I also think you have 8 full outs to the straight. If you like to gamble early on I'm pushing my chips into the middle, I think a call in this situation is +Ev.

OK. Of course I didnt fold here but I was really looking for something other than "I hope not". I figure I had about 9 outs, the turn game me even more outs since it was a 5. I hit my straight, river 2. Villian showed KK and proceeded to flip out in the chat box, as expected.

Yeah, villain had to be sore as hell. Did he learn anything from his play, I wonder.

I'm not sure what you are looking for here. It's unlikely that villain would play a set so fast. If assigning a range that does this, I'd be weighting TPGK more than an overpair to the board so I think you're substantially ahead of villain's range. It's not exactly a gamble.

Running some specific hands: you're 40% v a set, 54% v KK and 56% v AQ.

Interestingly, you're in worst shape against the higher diamond draw, only about 35%.

Good gamble. Guess he learned a lesson not to play kings slowly early. This is an easy call BTW, you're about 50/50 on avg unless he has a higher diamond draw. The guy who played kings was a moron.
