Default JJ on the button

UTG is a tight player, will protect his hand, but backs off when re-raised if he doesnt have the nuts. He will raise in EP with AK and AQ, but probably just call with medium pairs. UTG+1 is a different kind of player, will call raises with marginal hands, can play tight or loose depending on mood and her luck at the time, one outstanding quality is she loves to play suited cards, especially suited aces. Neither of these players are tricky.

UTG raises, UTG+1 calls. Everyone fold to Hero on the BB with JJ. Hero 3-bets. UTG calls, UTG+1 calls. Flop is 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG checks, UTG+1 bets, Hero raises, UTG folds, UTG+1 reraises. Hero calls.

Turn is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG+1 bets. Hero?

[9 BB]

-J

I think you should decide if your turn opponent is one who is trying to find out here if you're raising the flop with AK or some other combination of unimproved high cards. Also is he capable of just cold calling with a low pair or a pair that beats you JJ?

From your decription it sounds like he may be betting on the fact that you more than likely have overcards. If you raise here you may get a fold.

I personally like calling here. Probability is that he has a worse two pair or is trying to bluff you off your hand. Calling also keeps your decision on the river easy. What if you raise here and he plays back? If he's bluffing he will more than likely fold here, if he has a better hand you end up paying him off because his range of hands is pretty big.

Cliffs Notes: Call to induce bluff on the river

Have you seen UTG+1 bet/raise draws w/o immediate odds? From what you describe, I would assume so until proven otherwise.

Based on this assumption, I would raise the turn to protect my hand.

That would be a reason to call as villian as representing a 6.

Is the villain the type to play trips on the flop fast. If we don't know, I think we can raise the turn. If we just get called, i'd bet the river...that easy, however, we have a situation if we get 3/bet. Since you described this player as 'not tricky', I think there is a lot of merit to a raise/fold to a 3-bet line on the turn. We get the most value out of our hand when he has a flush draw/middle pair like 8s or 9s and we lose the same when we are behind. The only drawback to this line is folding the best (which I believe is really unlikely if he 3-bets us and to a lesser extent we are forfeiting the opportunity to hit a J on the river.

I'm getting to showdown with this one. If you're not capping the flop, why are you raising the turn?

This is a calldown. I don't like a turn raise, although you will be missing value from a mid PP or and overcard flush draw some percentage of the time.
