Default Two FF proposed trades

First off, here's my roster. 12-team Yahoo! standard head to head league:

QB - C. Palmer, B. Roethlisberger
RB - E. James, C. Dillon, R. Dayne
WR - R. Moss, T.J. Housh, M. Muhammad, A. Randle El, Sinorice Moss
TE - C. Cooley
K - J. Kasay, J. Reed
DEF - Carolina, Philadelphia

Carolina and Philly have the same bye week (last round meltdown, don't ask me why I got Philly's D.) Here's two trades I've been offered in FF, by the same guy in my league: NOTE: he knows I'm a Giants fan and I wanted their defense really bad...but I feel fine with Carolina's D. His other D is Minnesota.

Trade offer #1: he gives me D. Culpepper & NY Giants defense for C. Palmer

Upsides: I have two good to great D's and two decent QB's to rotate
Downsides: I lose my best QB
Problems: this would exceed my roster size (15.) I'd most likely drop Philly's D (or trade someone else Philly's D and someone else for one guy first.)

Trade offer #2: he gives me Carnell Williams and NY Giants defense for E. James.

Upsides: I get two strong D's and some decent RB's
Downsides: I lose my #1 pick, my best RB
Problems: same as trade #1 above

Thoughts? Help appreciated.

I dont like either of those at all. Defense is not that big of a deal, but you have one of the best anyway in Carolina. 2 for 1 deals are usually bad.

I like trade 2 because I like Caddy more than Edge.

Just drop Philly and grab a good sleeper D like ATL, SEA or CIN.

ATL is the top FP DEF =D

Dont do either. 2fers are generally bad, and this is no exception. You are downgrading at positions, and getting compensated with a D!! Even if it were a top D I would say don't do it, b/c D is hard to predict and there's more parity here than most positions, but the Giants D aren't even an elite D. AND you already have 2. These are no brainer nos.

I've got Cadillac rated higher than Edge.

I don't like either one. Can't you just pick up a D?

Are sacks worth like 10 points in your league? If not lose the hardon for the Giants D. Both of these trades are weak, except maybe that Caddy for Edge, but even with that it's a pretty lateral move.

I would also say don't worry about the second D and pick a good match-up when the Panthers are on bye, ie Green Bay or Buffalo who play that week.

Yeah, I think he's trying to con me by dangling the NYG carrot. Like I said, I've got Carolina...and I'd have to do something to get rid of a roster player. Maybe I can keep Philly's D and play matchups with them and Carolina until week 9, then pick up another D for that week. Thanks for the help
