Default Top 15 local meals

List your top 10-15 meals that you can get locally. List them in order of deliciousness. List the specific meal from the specific restaurant. Try to list price, and frequency of enjoyment. Also, list the city in which you reside, so we know where to find these delicious meals!

Houston, TX
1) Fogo de Chao chiarascurra ~$25 lunch/$40 dinnertime
(all you can eat meat served to you, sliced from skewers by gaucho-style servers. Also comes with delicious salad bar.)
Frequency: about once per year. Fathers day/birthday, etc.

2) Benihana's. "Benihana Delight". ~$25
(chicken + shrimp entree served with salad + rice + grilled vegetables)
Frequency: 2-3 times per year.

3)Goode Co. barbeque. ~$11
(sliced beef brisket + jalapeno sausage w/potato salad and jambalaya. Also comes with jalapeno-cheese bread)
Frequency: About 2-3 times per year. Would eat more but location isn't great.

4) Steak & Ale ~$13 "Smothered chicken"
(grilled chicken covered in cheese, bacon, and mushrooms served on a bed of mashed potatoes)
Frequency: about 8 times per year

5)Miyako's ~$9 lunch special. "Teriyaki chicken"
(teriyaki grilled chicken served with fried veggies, rice, and sushi)
Frequency: About twice per year. Haven't been in a while. Need to go back!

6)Saltgrass Steakhouse. ~$14 "Hill country sausage and chicken"
(grilled sausage and chicken served with mashed potatoes. Also comes with salad.)
Frequency: About 4 times per year

7)Macaroni Grill ~$10 "Sausage and peppers rustica"
(Grilled sausage served with red and green peppers, and onions, served on a bed of penne pasta. Also comes with delicious bread and olive oil.)
Frequency: Used to go about every month. Nearest location has closed down though. Need to get back into the rotation.

8)Gringo's Kitchen ~$8 "Chicken Enchiladas"
(Three chicken enchiladas topped with chili sauce, served with rice and refried beans. Also comes with chips and salsa.)
Frequency: About once a month.

9) Outback Steakhouse ~$10 "Outback Special. 8oz."
(8oz. filet served with mashed potatoes and ceaser salad. Also comes with bread.)
Frequency: About once a month.

10) Cafe Express ~$8 "Chicken salad sandwich"
(chicken salad sandwich served with regular chips.)
Frequency: 1-2 times per month.

11)Pronto Cuccinino ~$8 "Sausage and peppers"
(Grilled sausage and peppers served with mashed potatoes and bread.)
Frequency: Once a month.

12) Prince's Hamburgers. ~$8 "Alamo Burger"
(Burger severd with picante sauce and jalapenos. All onion rings in lieu of the fries/onion rings standard split.)
Frequency: Twice a month.

13)Christian's Totem ~$8 "Burger and fries"
(Half-pound burger all the way, with cheese. Served with freedom fries.)
Frequency: Once a month.

14) Sam's Cafe ~$7 "Kung Pao Chicken"

Frequency: Twice a month.

Typing all this out it seems apparent that I eat way too much sausage and potatoes!!!

You need to try some better restaurants in Houston, my man. Sorry to hate on your list, but including Benihana, Saltgrass, Macaroni Grill, and Outback on your list of "local" meals is pretty funny.

Check out Houston's or anything that starts with "Pappa".

I like this idea, but shouldn't a thread about "local" meals not include places like Outback, Macaroni Grill and Steak & Ale??

Is an Outback steak really the 9th best meal you can get in the 4th largest city in the US?

The idea is what are your favorite meals that you could go out and get nearby. Surely, we have all eaten better meals in other cities, but I don't think those should be included.

I'd just like to see what people like in their hometown. What meal they eat at that place, how often they eat there, etc.

No.

But it is probably my 9th favorite meal that is practical for me to eat on a fairly regular basis in my hometown.

It should be fairly obvious that I'm not a high-roller. That isn't the idea of this thread. I just am curious as to what people like to frequent in their hometown.

EDIT: It should also be assumed that I have not had a chance to eat every meal from every restaurant in the 4th largest city in America. Good choices WILL be lacking from my list.

I am not going to be extensive, but I will list some for Seattle, in no particular order. I love good food but I am not into fine dining. Maybe others can help with that.

Salumi in Pioneer Square. Recommended: Beef Tounge Sandwhich

Market Grill in Pike Place Market. Recommended: Salmon Sandwhich and cup of clam chowder.

Cafe Zum Zum, 3rd and Madison. Businessman's lunch spot with 12 curries a day. Take away for $6. Recommended: Half Red Bean Curry, 1/2 Split Lentil Curry.

Paseo in Fremont. Incredible hole in the wall Cuban spot on Fremont Ave. Recommended: 1/2 Chicken Dinner.

Maneki Sushi in the ID. The oldest and the best sushi joint in Seattle. Recommended: Unagi Nigiri.

Mae Phim, 1st and Cherry. Busy Thai lunch spot. Most authentic "rhaan khao" restaurant in Seattle. $6 for anything. Twice a week minimum for me. Recommended: Basil Chicken, Thai Style, with a fried egg.

Boat Street Cafe, base of Denny Way between Belltown and Queen Anne. Wonderful French from the cafe that used to be near the UW Medical Center.

Agua Verde, behind UW Medical Center on Lake Union. Great views and great food and margaritas. Recommended: Catfish Tacos with any sides, they are all great.

Glo's on Capitol Hill. Best breakfast in Seattle. Recommended: any Benedict or Black Bean Omelette.

Other Coast Cafe in Ballard. Messy, yummy subs made only with Boar's Head meats.

Others: Le Pichet, Marco's Supperclub, Saito, Malay Satay Hut, Tutta Bella.

Irvine, CA (mine arent going to be in order, just the order in which I think of them as they are all great eats)

Houstons - Knife & Fork ribs

Taleo - Cerviche appetizer & ahi tuna with mashed potatos and asperagus

Mazuru - great sushi, fun atmosphere also as you get wasted with the sushi chefs and they are funny as anything

The cannery(newport beach) - havent been there in awhile but I love the oysters and they always have good entrees

Il fornio(sp?) - great calamari, then get the pork shank thingy

Gulfstream(newport) - oysters again + the steak, or swordfish(or maybe its seabass?)

Tommy Bahamas(newport) - the best ahi tuna appetizer ever + jamacian pork

Kitiyama (newport)- great japanese food

R & D cafe (newport) - amazing french au jus dip sandwich

Sevilla (out in riverside) - amazing spanish food - octupus appetizer and then paella for din din

The breakfest sandwiches @ el toro golf course(lol)

The of course other things like in-n-out JITB, pfs, CPK, chipotle, blah blah

Opah - (irvine, mission viejo) - lots of good stuff here

Other things I am sure I am forgetting...the people I eat with are terribly boring and I eat at the same places a lot

ALSO, go to Bristol Farms and buy some prosucuitto(STFU I dont how to spell)...it is the best stuff on earth!

A couple of my favorites to add for the Seattle area are Kozue (on 45th I think?) and Big Time Pizza in Redmond.
