Re: Shorty *calls* 1/2 his stack pre vs. my QQ
22+, big aces is probably pretty close to his range there I guess.
I put him all in on the flop even if it might be slightly -EV, partly as an image play (i.e. don't eff with me i eat ur stack for breakfast) and partly out of contempt for shortstacks in general. I'm not sure how strategically valuable that was, but it's true. |

Re: Shorty *calls* 1/2 his stack pre vs. my QQ
I've found calls like these to be middle pairs or even weak pairs a lot of the time. If you are going to push no matter what, you might be better off check-calling as at this point, 88 would fold to a bet, but might be stupid enough to push if you check. I'd never fold here though.

Jam-
I like the way you think, but I'm not so sure you've mastered the art of reading directions. Claunchy- If that's his calling raise, what's his pushing range? Or do you think he's flipping a coin? |

If that's his calling raise, what's his pushing range? Or do you think he's flipping a coin? [/ QUOTE ] Honestly, trying to find a rhyme or reason for the things fishy NL50 shortstacks do seems almost impossible to me. He could be like "Oooh AA xprt sloplay time!" or he could just be like "66 is pretty good I call." I just wait for a decent hand, and I get it in. |

Re: Shorty *calls* 1/2 his stack pre vs. my QQ
I think its is important to consider how much he buys in for and if he has re-bought to a certain limit. A guy who comes in for 11.95 is blowing his last couple bucks. A guy who buys in for 10 and when drops to 8 re-buys to 10 is upto something. In regards to the hand, though villian does not have a pot sized bet left, I still make a pot size bet...but thats cause im good like that

Re: Shorty *calls* 1/2 his stack pre vs. my QQ
Honestly, once he makes that PF call, I stop worrying about what his logic is, A)because it's pretty clear to me he has none, and B) because my money, in some way, is getting to the middle.
I like a check-call on that flop for ksl's reasoning. |

Re: Shorty *calls* 1/2 his stack pre vs. my QQ
Well, I don't know what the F he has before the flop. I see almost all of the shorties raising most pairs, aces and broadway hands.
I thought *real* hard about check-folding. I mean, no matter what, he's a short stack, and his range has to be mostly made up of aces, kings and pairs, right? And that means mostly aces and kings. Then, I thought about check-calling. It's probably a good line. I also think that people are more willing to get it in on the flop, though. Especially dumb people who thing everything is "a race" (dunno if he was one of those). Then, I thought "but I like to bet! And I'm a manly man, so I really like to bet *twice in one hand*! Then, I thought about the fact that, if he calls, I'm getting like 2.75:1 and I'm only like a 3:1 dog to an ace or king, and there's always the chance that he calls with a dumb underpair. So, of course, I shoved and he called with K4o. I haven't won a big pot in a looong time, but small ones are easy. I spike a jack on the turn and MHIG. |
