Default LC - Noob question

I just started playing shorthanded limit recently (mostly full-ring background, up to $10/20).

Why are so many people at the shorthanded games so bad? I know there are bad full ring players, but it seems like you get more "play any 2" types, in addition to players who will call the flop with any 2 cards, any possible backdoor draw, any pair despite action, etc. I've been playing 2/4 to 5/10 shorthanded lately, and it really seems like there are far more horrible players shorthanded than there are at full-ring.

Are there any theories as to why this is?

Fish like 6-max. You get to play more hands, be more aggressive, hands are faster. And they probably do better too. A lot of fish full ring tendancies are not as bad in 6-max.

Varience is higher and 100/100 is a lot closer to the correct style in a short game then it is in a full game.
