AQo, 4-flush board... too aggro for me?
I wasn't sure if I did something wrong in this hand. The villain is 11/8.8/4.
WPEX, 3/6 9-handed Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2 folds, MP1 limps, 3 folds, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, BB folds, MP1 calls, Button calls. Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets, MP1 folds, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, Button caps, Hero calls. Turn: 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets, Button raises, Hero folds. I tried a clarkmeister on the turn... probably should have been a c/f there huh? How's the 3-bet on the flop? Too much?? |

Clark applies to the river, but even if it were the river, just rattling off the fact that you think it's 4 flush board OOP => bet! means you're not really thinking about the situation.

Is villain really an AF of 4? If so what do you think your donks are going to accomplish? I might be willing to call down for the rare time he doesn't have a diamond but really I think you can c/f the turn.

Re: AQo, 4-flush board... too aggro for me?
I think he's either crushing you outright or freerolling you on the flop, so I'm not a big fan of 3-betting.
Sometimes I stop and go the turn if it bricks. In this case I would check and fold. |

Is everyone into the 3-bet PF against these stats?

Re: AQo, 4-flush board... too aggro for me?
The key number isn't the VPIP, it's the raise stat. A villain with those very conservative stats should still be perfectly capable of stealing - he's just not the sort to limp a whole lot of hands. So yes, I like the 3-bet even against the likely range of villain.
The problem is the whole donking into an aggression factor 4 player thing and doing it twice on a very dangerous board. First of all, what do you think he has? In all likelihood if he has a diamond it's going to be a high enough one that you won't bet him off of it. Against a player like that it's better to play the rope-a-dope game. Let Mr. Aggro bet. If you're feeling frisky then I guess you can check-raise, otherwise you can call and check-raise a safe card on the turn. When the fourth diamond hits on the turn it's time to get out of Dodge. |

*grunch*
Oops - didn't notice it was a blind steal situatino. Flop: 3-bet is good. With stats like those, villain could be raising anything. Turn: I think I c/f. Villain may have raised initially on a flush draw, the flush, or something else that beats TPTK. If it's a bluff, so be it. |

Re: AQo, 4-flush board... too aggro for me?
Heads up I understand the 3 bet but you have a limper there and you are way out of position.
I always conceal my strength in the sb unless I a) own the aggressor b) have a monster that plays best heads up c) feel that I need to donate more money to the other players. AQo is not a great 3 bet hand from the SB. I want to get a better feeling against an aggressor with position on me and so the check raise on the flop works best for me with that flop. If he 3 bets my check raise here I have to think is my TPTK good enough? If I am comfortable being beaten here then I fold. If I think I have the best hand I call it down. This is the only time that this opponent has position on me so I don't mind letting him lead here. Even if I lose the hand I can use this to help me in the future. |
