Getting frisky w/ 97s once in a while is ok by me. I like your flop raise, but once he calls that and leads the turn, I'm leaning towards folding. I think he's beat TPWK here.

I raise to $12 on the flop and hope to take it down. I fold the turn, you're well behind too often to call.

His line screams a small pocket overpair (88-99?) to me. Limp call preflop and then the leading out on every street. once the complete straight hits the board on the river you have to call to make sure you tie with a small pocket pair turned set, but I would have folded the TPWK on the turn. Don't tell me he showed 88.

I don't think raising to $12 instead of $9 has any advantage here and is less EV. This is just gut feeling, i obviously have nothing to back this statement up.

I first put him on 88 because it is consistent with his flop play, but then it changed. Would this guy lead into me with 88 after me showing strength before the flop and after the flop? I think not, I think he needs a much stronger hand to do that with.

He showed A5 for the split pot. your reads are correct, i should have folded the turn
