Big blind special, Now with min-raising goodness!
First hand at this table so no reads.
This hand just doesn't feel right. Why am I 3 betting only to fold to a push. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Hero ($234.05) UTG ($138.35) MP ($198) CO ($225.45) Button ($210.05) SB ($106.65) Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Re: Big blind special, Now with min-raising goodness!
777 looks to be pretty unlikely becuase he limped MP. Typically players would raise in that position with 77 pf, I dont know maybe I'm generalizing too much.
Since he limped with in MP I think more than often Villian has A7. I would fold here to a unknown villian with a full stack. I don't think you are ahead. |

Re: Big blind special, Now with min-raising goodness!
I'm one of those people who thinks that seeing one min raise is a big read as 99% of people who do that are donks, so I hate folding anything much to them when they may just have an ace, but given how big your reraise was even I would fold this - especially as the SB could pretty much have anything.

Re: Big blind special, Now with min-raising goodness!
MP's $5 min raise makes me suspicious, then he pushes the rest in after your re-raise. the only hand I can put him on here is A7, I fold.
If he had 77 and limped, no way he pushes on the flop with that board. |

Thanks all for your input. I'm pretty confident that I was behind, and the fold was correct.
Does anyone play this hand differently? Just calling the raise, and then plans for later streets? |

[/ QUOTE ] No, I think you played it correctly. Allowing him to donk minraise you would be bad. You wouldn't know where you were at and he would have the ability to outdraw you with an ace and a weak kicker. He announced his hand pretty strongly with the push so you have to muck. |

Minraising is not just for donks. It can be used effectively to build pots. Don't get caught in one line of thinking.
