Default Multiple accounts in a tournament from the same IP address?

This is not a cheating post (and forgive my computer ignorance).

Sometimes my bro-in-laws or some friends will be visiting my house, and since they like poker , and I have a few computers, we'll try to play some online poker together (they all have their own accounts, of course). But if we try to play an MTT (or sit at the same SNG table), the software blocks us.

Is there any way around this? It seems pretty reasonable that a bunch of people might all want to log in and play a tournament against each other from the same location, with no intention of cheating.

I think it depends on the site, but most sites I believe block this kind of thing.

Totally reasonable. I'd be thrilled if I was in a tournament against you. WTF?

If everyone were honest this would seem perfectly reasonable, however with many instances of cheating (in just this manner) already documented, no honest and knowledgable player will want to play any site that allows this.

6 person SNG, and you and your 4 cousins playing together against a fish. Yeah, right.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. I guess you are assuming that 3 people under the same roof cannot participate in a tournament without cheating. I disagree.

My brothers-in-law live in another state. Occasionally we get together for the holidays, etc. We'd like to be able to play an online tournament together for fun. I can understand why the online sites need to be vigilant - but assuming the only reason to play from the same location is for the purposes of cheating, is ridiculous.

*sigh*

The point is that the positive of preventing collusive behavior outweighs the negative of preventing you and your buddies play in the same physical location.

I mean, buy a deck of cards and grab the penny jar.

That said, my oldroomate and I would play separately over the same connection (and presumably same IP) address. Party just wouldn't let us join the same table (rightly so).

We found this out when my roomie tried to come into my room to razz me. I was actually happy to hear it.

What about a private tourney?

Or like someone said, just deal out the cards, it's more fun that way.

BTW, why wouldn't you just play in your own separate homes in the same tourney, rather than wait till you're all together? That makes more sense.

Seriously, it pains me to think that people would rather play online than live in this situation.

It reminds me of my ex who would bitch about me never spending any quality time with her. Of course her idea of QT was the two of us sitting on the couch watching friends reruns while not talking.

Get the deck of cards and some pennies and get everyone involved.
