88 - River decision
B&M 10/20
EP1 is a rich lawyer type in a suit who is passive and loose, MP1 is a bit laggy Hero has 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in the BB PREFLOP: EP1 calls, 2 calls, MP1 calls, 1 call, SB calls, Hero raises, everyone calls. FLOP: A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (7 players, 14 SBs) SB checks, Hero bets, EP1 calls, two folds, MP1 calls, 1 fold, SB folds TURN: Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (8.5 BBs) Hero bets, EP1 calls, MP1 calls RIVER: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (11.5 BBs) Hero checks, EP1 checks, MP1 bets, Hero...? |

Re: 88 - River decision
I wouldn't raise 88 OOP with this many limpers. I'd probably check 99 too although that is closer.
Call the river as I'm sure you'll see a bluff from a LAG enough of the time to show a profit. |

Re: 88 - River decision
Took me a second to get my head around it, but you actually raised 88 preflop for value. Nice table.
Flop gOOt, turn gOOt. Isn't the river a clear bet/fold? As played, I think you can call with a reasonable expectation that EP1 will overcall but not raise (based on your read). If it gets back to you, kick yourself for not betting it in the first place and fold. Edit: ok, not quite for value preflop, but it's damned close...I miscounted the first time and thought there were 6 limpers and the SB. |

Re: 88 - River decision
But even if the river bettor is bluffing, EP1 may have a low diamond he was afraid to bet.
EDIT: I'm replying to Hobbs. |

But even if the river bettor is bluffing, EP1 may have a low diamond he was afraid to bet. [/ QUOTE ] Which is why you should have bet it out; there's a non-zero chance he'll fold a non-nut flush, given the way you've played the hand. He'll definitely not raise with anything but the nut flush, as it's pretty easy to put you on A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Kx, or some such, given the way you played the hand. |

Re: 88 - River decision
Isn't this a variation on Clarkemeister? Bet/fold...

B&M 10/20 Hero checks, EP1 checks, MP1 bets, Hero...? [/ QUOTE ] Bet the river, fold to a raise. Harangue EP1 and MP1 for showing down A9o and K5o respectively. |

Re: 88 - River decision
I'd suggest a call, some jackass could have hit a backdoor flush, but it could be a sloppy two pair or even a lower set than yours. Odds are too good to fold. Some idiot could have played top pair the whole way. these scenarios are unlikely, but add up to a call
