Deep in the Stars $35K guranteed. Trying to isolate
Not sure what to think of the call of my raise in position of villan 1 in this hand. Once the short stack pushed all in, I wanted to get it heads up. Is this a +EV play? Would it be better for me to just call the shorties push?(I think this play is bad b/c then it gives the cold caller behind me a chance to push) What about a fold preflop?

Unless you have notes that this guy likes to cold call in position with premium hands, I think this is a good push. You challenge his entire stack and are only against one player.

Re: Deep in the Stars $35K guranteed. Trying to isolate
The problem here is you really have no sense of how strong the CO is. By pushing, you could be donating a 1/3 of your stack to a hand that has you dominated.
Another option is to simply call the all-in. If CO calls as well you may be able to check it down and eliminate the BB. But if CO pushes, you can leave the hand with 10% less chips, rather than 33% less. I'd be interested to hear arguments against that line. |

You are raising utg and have a huge stack...put the pressure on the CO. The only times I like calling in this spot are when you have a relatively loose image or you know that the CO will call in position with very strong holdings. Also I think the CO only calls here with QQ+, AK, maybe sometimes JJ, and he may even throw AK away. Push and pick up a little dead money. |
