Re: Turn questions 5/10nl 6-max
1. easy fold and i wouldnt bet the flop or make that small re-raise preflop
2. call and get it in on the river probably but pushing now is not bad either. and i would have made a pot sized raise on the flop. |

1. easy fold and i wouldnt bet the flop or make that small re-raise preflop [/ QUOTE ] My reraise was about 3.5x the original raise, isn't that standard? is AQo a bad hand to reraise with in NL? Why not bet the flop? We have a decent one pair hand, but not a hand that we want to play a big pot with, so by checking flop we keep the pot small? Are you not worried about giving a free card to a hand w/ 4-5 outs. Okay, so check the flop, and if he checks to you on the turn, then you bet it, right? What if you check the flop and he leads for $150 on the turn? Presumably we call, then face a river bet with little idea of where we stand.... |

Re: Turn questions 5/10nl 6-max
Hand 1 is an insta-muck.
Hand 2 I just call. I think you are actually losing a decent percentage of the time here. No reads? That check raise is awful strong. NT |

Re: Turn questions 5/10nl 6-max
we know exactly where we stand usually on the river. and the implied odds that you're giving are too good. a pot-sized raise would have been to about 100. I probably would have made it 130 or so to make it clear that they are not getting implied odds to draw to a set. that way, they have to either call or fold and be correct more often than not to turn a profit. with your small raise, they can just call every time and then worry about turning a profit postflop.

Re: Turn questions 5/10nl 6-max
Hand 1: you're probably looking at AK or JJ-KK. If you bet flop, bet about 3/4 of pot and fold to raise, he doesnt raise here with hand you beat. Also, good is too check flop, call turn. It makes the river a bit tougher if you play it this way, as you have to figure out if he fires KK/QQ again given weakness you've shown, but I muck to his river bet.
Hand 2: make it 160 on flop, get it in on turn, hope river blanks and he shows you set. |

RESULTS
Hand #1: River blanked and I paid off to see his A9o.
Hand #2: I pushed turn, he instacalled w/ A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], and I lose. More comments welcome. |

Re: RESULTS
You called a push in hand 1? I can't tell you how bad that is. You are never ahead on turn, let alone when he pushes river... Hand 2 sucks, but if you raised bigger on flop at least you'd feel better about yourself when he pays too much to suck out rather than this way where you gave him good odds...

Re: RESULTS
hand 1. raise at least 100 PF, fold flop
hand 2. just stick it on on turn he has no money left. |

[/ QUOTE ] After the hand, I really couldn't think of anything I beat that he plays that way, but by the time the river bet came I was getting like over 5:1 and the limit player in me just called. I'm trying to figure out where to get away from it. On the turn... maybe even on the flop after he checkraises? Or as you suggested, check flop, call turn, fold to a river bet? |
