Default Question Re: Online Gambling age in Illinois

I recently had a situation with an online casino where I lost $3k in winnings.

Link to internet bonus thread: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...e=0#Post6894109

Basically, I deposited, won, got a cashout. Went on a losing streak, then hit a big 4k win. The casino manager tells me that gambling under the age of 21 is illegal in IL, and he returns my deposits, putting me out 4k.

Full story in the linked thread. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
-Kidd

What is the gambling age in Illinois and that is the age to be in a Casino? If its 21 then your out of luck I guess. I read the link but you were mixing in loto's and chartlies ect which don't count. I guess what you have to do is prove that you can be in a casino in Illinois at 18.

I wonder what these scumbags would have said if you had gambled, gambled, gambled a fortune away, and then contacted them and said . . . hey Sir’s, I’m underage, please return all my money.

You entered into a contract with these folks. You are of a legal age to do so. You performed your end of the contract (by taking a risk, depositing money with them, playing on their terms, etc). They are in breach. Sue the Mo’fo’s.
All that being said, they are offshore and you are probably SOL. Also, I’m shooting from the hip, I’m no lawyer, I just empathize with your plight.

Riverboat casinos require you to be 21+. All other forms of legal gambling in illinois are 18+.

Online casinos are not riverboats, hence they are not governed or have to adher to riverboat casino age laws. Hence, the casino trying to enforce a riverboat casino age restriction is flatout crooked IMO....

That's why I never play in the online casinos. They're not like poker sites where they need your business more than once. As soon as they get a deposit from you, they won't give your money back. I tried one of those nice bonuesses that those online casinos have and had to fight for my money for like 2-3 months to get it back out. Will never do that again.

Basically, there is no economical reason for them to give your money back. They don't need any sort of reputation or return business. Moral to the story: play at the poker sites, not the casinos.

Casinos don't want you to re-deposit when you go busto? The successful casinos depend mainly on gamblers who busto time and time again and keep re-depositing, not on one time depositers.

I'm no lawyer either, but I can tell you you're basically SOL. You can't sue them. They're in another country and it wouldn't be worth trying to sue them.

So, what are you going to do, call the FBI? Obviously you're doing something illegal yourself, so that wouldn't be a good idea.

The reality of it is the poker sites, casino sites, etc can do really about whatever they want. It just makes good business since for them to operate the right way. That's the only thing that protects you.

Strangely enough, the legal age for pari-mutuel gambling is 17 in Illinois.
