Default 2 hands from 109 stars deepstack

Okay, so I've finally made it to the final table, I'm chipleader. I think I have played very well, up until these two hands.

hand #1
villain is solid and knows i'm not raising any 2 in the CO, or at least thats what i think he thinks... so his reraise is clearly not a resteal. He's def. got a hand, and position to boot. My first instinct is that he has a pair. If so, I'm behind, but i have AK, and a ton of chips, so i push. Villain could also have AQ and AJ, but not as likely as a pair given my read on him. So, basically I think i made a bad push. I could have easily flat called and re-evaluated on the flop. ok so this hand is not exciting.

hand 2: This villain is a little more aggressive. I've seen him make large reraises with sevens PF. He's def. unpredictable. Here I elect to call with AT o/s, perhaps my first mistake, maybe not. So check check on flop. I turn trip tens, he checks again. Okay so maybe he's slowplaying AJ on me or he has 99 or JJ. I bet my tens and he min checkraises me. Here I should have seen the warning flags, but i said OK, lets see a river. River I hit the A and make a boat and again he checks to me. So I have tens full of aces and I make a nice value bet and get check/raised all in, and i call. Ok, so what does villain have and did i make a mistake, or not? ok probably not the greatest post, and its late and i'm tired.

I play both of these hands exactly like you. Flat calling is terrible in hand 1 as you allow him the advantage of position as well as allowing him to get away from a pair if an A or K flops. AK is well ahead of his range and pushing is the only correct play. Looks like you got stacked by KK or QQ in hand 2 but you can't get away from this.

Hand 1: I really don't see anything wrong with the push. He's only got 100k more, you're out of position, there's a lot in the pot, he could indeed have AJ/AQ, and you only lose 1/2 your stack if you end up losing a race.

Hand 2: When you bet that turn, he min raises you. What kind of hands would he do that with? That board does not look like one you would want to pot commit somebody if you have a pair. When he checks the river, it's hard to believe that he's afraid of the A. But still, your value bet looks fine and call look fine. I go broke here.

KK/QQ ?

I would also like to follow up with saying that AT is not a good hand to challenge with even if he's aggressive.

Yeah on hand 2 he had KK...and I just totally spaced.
The check on the river really got me. I mean I'm sitting here with a full house and he's going to check it to me and I'm not supposed to bet?

I mean clearly in this situation I shouldnt have, but also perhaps playing this tourney for 8 hours straight I just had a brainfart. Course not to mention playing for a few hours before this tournament as well. I think basically I need to take more time with tricky spots like this especially when checkraised/minraised, and after checks on the flop.

yeah, and fold PF too....ugh.

but when do you draw the line though? A lot of these aggressive players, and super aggressive players who are raising with a very wide range of hands in any position (myself included) just to take down the blinds. In fact I think oftentimes raising to steal the blinds in early position is more successful, albeit more risky because most players will give you credit for having a big hand.

also, hand 1 is really always a push?
I am usually pushing here because a lot of times this is a resteal, and with the stack sizes I have a lot of FE. However even against a very tight range where AK is certainly a slight underdog is it still a push?

I've only read this far and I can guarantee that he lost the ATo hand with that river c/r its a bigger boat every time from a sane villain.
