Hey guys
as a gift to my parents i want to give them a gift certificate to a nice restaurant in boston. I did this 2 yrs ago w/ one to the top of the hub, and it went over really well. My parents are pretty particular, the types of restaurants i'm looking for (in no particular order) are seafood / steakhouse / italian. As for price range, my parents don't drink wine, so i'm thinking $100 should be enough, but am willing to do more (if worth it). thanks Stealthcow- |

Grill 23 hasa great reputation. I've never been but have heard a lot of great things:
http://www.grill23.com/ Also, Il Capriccio in Waltham is very highly regarded. A guy I work with bartends and he sings its praises. Your folks might get a Bill Belichick or Jack Williams (cbs4) sighting, too. Olives is excellent in Charlestown, too, but is more Mediterranean/ Fru fru American. |

High-end Boston restaurants that I recommend are The Federalist, Clio, and Spire. Of the three, the food and service at The Federalist were superior, and it's a more "adult" restaurant in a lot of ways. It's probably more than $100 for two, but I would say it's worth it, especially if your folks are foodies.

For $100, why not send them to something nice in the North End. Without wine, they'll get some of the best Italian food in the country. In your price range, they should be pretty much be covered. It's not like you're sending them to L'Espalier, where a $100 would barely make a dent in the check, although without alcohol, they could actually get out pretty cheap, relatively speaking, but they may not like that kind of food.

Olives in Charlestown was one of the best meals I've had.
For steak, you can't beat Grill 23 (I really like the Smith and Wollensky there too, it's inside an old castle). Capital Grille is also fantastic, but I'd say Grill 23 is the best. Italian - Mama Maria in the North End, amazing food. |
