UB HU $1/2 plo: Play for villain\'s stack with 78910?
UB $1/2 plo
Stacks Villain (sb/button) $105 or so, Hero (bb) $215 Hero Dealt 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Villain raises to $6, Hero repots, Villain repots, Hero...happily puts villain in for the last $10 or so?? I felt this hand plays well very well against a big pair AAxx type hand. I know if double suited it's even better, but is this standard play for stacks hand in hu plo? --JimmyB13 |

Re: UB HU $1/2 plo: Play for villain\'s stack with 78910?
i always call preflop here. i'm sure my equity is good against a lot of hands but my equity can be way better on the flop and they are still willing to put money in then.

I see no reason to turn this into a crap shoot. Id just call the raise.

Re: UB HU $1/2 plo: Play for villain\'s stack with 78910?
Once you repot and to $18, you are pretty much destined to AT LEAST call when he repots again to $54.
I would have thought allin would be appropriate since he has half his stack in there anyway and you will be getting slightly over 3 to 1 on any flop bet............however Jay brings up a good point. It may be correct to just call here and stick the rest in when you get ANY PIECE of the next flop, that way you can improve your equity on the remaining money a good % of the time. The only way I see this line being correct though is if you can narrow his range down to SPECIFICALLY a big pair, so that you can muck your hand with confidence when the board completely misses you and you are not getting correct odds to call on the flop for the rest of his money. For instance if a flop like this comes you can fold if you are very certain he has a big pair: pokenum -o 7h 8h 9h ts - qs qd 5c 2h -- ac 3c ks Omaha Hi: 820 enumerated boards containing Ks Ac 3c cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV Ts 9h 8h 7h 74 9.02 746 90.98 0 0.00 0.090 Qs 5c Qd 2h 746 90.98 74 9.02 0 0.00 0.910 If his range is wider however, allin preflop would be better because you would hate to fold a flop when you both miss getting better then 3 to 1. Also, allin preflop is better if he only had $10 left like you said ( I think he's got about $50 left though). |

fwiw, i was on about the first time around, the 2nd time around it doesn't really matter but you analysed it greatly about the rare but possible times you might as welll save that $10. Sklansky has an article in the mag atm about the same but w/ NLHE
