Default $100+20 Live SNG\'s... worth the effort?

Turned 21 a couple weeks ago and have been playing a lot of live poker in AC for a nice change of pace. Recently, I visited the Taj and played some low buy-in MTT's along with two $100+20 SNG's. Everyone started with t1000 with blinds at t25/50 (!) going up every 15 mins to 50/100, 100/200/25, 150/300/50, 200/400/75, etc. It was a winner take all event, although chops were allowed.

At first glance, it looks like a horrendous structure, with the 20% rake and rediculously shallow 20 BB stacks to start. However, the play from the two I entered resembled what can best be described as a $6 Party Speed. Do you all think such soft competition is enough to help balance out the many downsides of such SNG structure and make a reasonable ROI achieveable or would I be better off sticking solely to MTT's/cash in AC? Anyone have experience playing these super shallow, super turbo Live STT's?
