It is kind of a part of the 1st Amendment. I assume you are playing in America. In some other countries, they might not have the right to complain. [ QUOTE ] this can't be right, can it? [/ QUOTE ] What? That they have a right to complain? People have died for that right. |

[/ QUOTE ] Well of course they have a right to complain. You made them lose. I mean, they couldn't be losing because they suck at blackjack and it's a -EV game even if they did know correct basic strategy, could they? Everyone knows that a bad player at third base screws up the game for everyone else, just like everyone knows online poker is rigged. |

Re: \'messing up the deck\' in blackjack
Here's what you do. The next time they get a blackjack, tell them you're welcome, because had you not played your hand the way your did 5 hands back, they wouldn't have gotten that blackjack.

Re: \'messing up the deck\' in blackjack
I think that in New Jersey it is required, by law, to complain about your blackjack strategy!
Of course their complaints make no actual sense in the real world. In reference to the 1st ammendment, I don't think that this would be covered. The casino could kick you out for giving other customers a hard time. Free speech is a government issue, not a private corporation issue. |

Re: \'messing up the deck\' in blackjack
no, infact last time i was at the casino, we saw this player who had been particularily rude to one of our friends when he was just learning to play.
So 4 of us all grabbed some seats at the table(how we got 4 seats at the same table is a miracle) busted out 40 bucks a piece and proceded to play absolutely donktastic 2$ BJ. Split faces where the number of eyes showing didn't match doubling hard 14s standing on 11 regardless of what the dealer had. Played like complete idiots and managed to bust the [censored] while managing to double up ourselves and he even had the nerve to call us the morons after he busted. |

[ QUOTE ]
Are people justified in complaining about other players BJ strategy? [/ QUOTE ] It's absolutely within their rights and within casino etiquette. In this, they're perfectly justified. But they are completely wrong to complain, in actual fact, because what you do with your hand(s) does not affect their chances at the table at all. It's all an illusion, caused by hindsight. And you have, of course, the right to tell them that -- it is within casino etiquette as well. But you will be wasting your breath and making matters worse. Ignore their protests, or deflate them with some self-deprecating humor. Mickey Brausch |

Re: \'messing up the deck\' in blackjack
Yeah, it is all really cute to use semantics to make it seem as if the OP didn't make his question clear enough.
OP: Of course it isn't justified, as your "incorrect" moves have just as much chance to help your fellow player as it does to hurt him. Like someone else said, everytime you take the dealer's 5 or 6 that would have given them 21, and instead the dealer takes a 10, be sure to point this out to the person complaining and expect a lot of thanks for getting them out of that bad situation at the risk of yourself. Or something. |
