How funny is this comic?

I was reading the New Yorker yesterday and was mostly just looking at the different comics trying to find one that I found funny when I stumbled across this.

I thought this was really funny at the time, but thinking about it now it could be possible that it was only funny because all the rest of the comics sucked. (Relativity yay!)

Your thoughts OOT?

I'd like to point out I thought it was funny enough at the time to tear it out of the magazine.

Yeah, after giving it a day, I was starting to lean this way as well.

Next question,

What kind of pretentious [censored] actually enjoy the New Yorker comics? I mean, if this is the funniest comic in the entire magazine... maybe they need a new humor editor?

The concept is decent, not great but not terrible - "don't beat a ninja at..." but there's got to be a better visual joke than scrabble tiles in the head.

"Never beat a ninja at Twister" comes off the top of my head.
