Default Intermediate player, Full tilt MTT\'s, reccomendations

Hello!

This is actually my first post on two + two, however I have been reading posts here for quite a while and believe that it has helped aid my Game. Currently, I'm reading the HOH books and have been applying the concepts bit by bit as I try to increase the quality of my game.

I definatly would not consider myself an expert player, or even a relatively good one. Infact, I think it was only recently that I've managed to pull myself out of Donkdom. I've been playing poker online since early 2005, mostly on pokerstars where I will admit to being a losing player. (sadly I did not know anything about poker when I first started, and was the kind of easy money player that I delight in sitting next to in a casino.)

Nowadays, I've read a couple books already, starting with Super system, and supersystem 2. They helped my game a little, and while searching for other reccomended books I fell upon this site. Very informative IMHO.

Since finding this site, I have managed to final table 5 tournaments in a row at the local casino I go to ($37+ $3 66person tourney with 6paid) however only cashed once with 4th place. However, I still managed to pull through the month first in tournament points, and got a freeroll into the end of month deepstack tourney. Hopefully, I can keep it up and do good in the future.

Now, to the point of the post.

I have recently decided to give Full Tilt a try, I wanted to try out some different interfaces, as well as compete against different players. Since moving to full tilt I've managed to raise my original $50 buy-in first to $75 grinding ultra-low limit cash games, and then higher playing some of the MTT's that they have. (3rd in a $5 for a total of $355). Then on monday I managed to close up my first MTT, finishing 1st in a $24+2 guarantee for a total of $2766.

So now I guess this brings me to my question. I would prefer to play on Full tilt the bankroll I have established there now, and prefer MTT or tournament type play. Does anyone have any reccomendations on what the best type of tournament on Fulltilt would be for my bankroll? Looking for sustainability and hopefully something that I can continue to increase my bankroll with. I saw in a seperate post that someone mentioned the $24+2 and 69+6 token tourneys, are they a good investment? (probably start with the lower end SNG's to win $24+2 tokens, and then use those to get 69+6 tokens using the SNGs...)

Any information you have is appreciated, and any reccomendations that people have for other books that would be smart to read would also be nice...

thanks for your help!

The $4.40 and $6.60 SNGs into the $24+2 token SNGs into the $69+6 SNGs are a great way to go. I built my bankroll playing in these things in late 2005/early 2006.

Awesome! Thanks!

I had been thinking that those were the way to go, the 8.80 turbos really don't look like they are as profitable in the long run, probably better to earn the $26 tokens with as little rake as possible. I guess I'll be spending time in those SNG's then, build myself a BR of tokens and then try to cash in a few more MTT's. Thanks for the advice!

dont just use the 69+6 tokens for MTTs, play the 69+6 sngs as well. they're uber soft and it will help build your roll quickly. I kept a hard rule that for every 69+6 token I used for a MTT, I'd use 3 more 69+6 tokens for SNGs.

Out of curiosity, are you in Edmonton? Sounds like it based on your description of the local tournies.

Before I played online I also did quite well at the local tourneys (4 wins, many final table finishes). In my opinion, the PartyPoker 50-man SNGs match the play of that type of tournament almost exactly. I've played over 100 of them ($11 buy-ins) now with an ROI of 73%, and consider myself an intermediate player at best.

You may want to check out party poker.

The $24 and $69 guaranteed tourneys are pretty easy, you should do fine in them. But I recommend that you also learn how to play NL cash games. Probably start at .25/.50 and move up when you feel comfortable. Learning cash games will improve your MTT game immensely. Also, playing just MTTs can drain your bankroll pretty quickly so it's important to have a steady flow of cash coming in.

While they do have a $0.2 higher rake, the $8.8 turbo token SnG are actually a better value as they pay one more place than the $6. If you play decent satellite poker, the turbo 8s are faster (better hourly rate) and the addition of one extra token makes up for the 20 cents. Try both for a month and see which ROI is better. I like the $8s much better

I've done well in both the $6 2-table and the $6 6-handed single table token sats, but the $8 turbos just move too fast for me. If your game is suited for really fast turbos, then I would expect the $8 to be the better value, but if not, I'd stay away.

Yup! Definatly am in Edmonton. I mostly play the tourneys at the Palace casino and actually managed to take one down in december... any other good ones around here that I should look for? (The cash tables there kill me... literally everytime I've sat down someone has busted me with Quad jacks. Last time it was runner runner to beat my flopped nut flush. )

I used to play party poker, but I really don't like the laggy system they have. If they upgrade the client, I would go there in a second.

I'll give that a try. I do play the cash games on occaision, but still have to get used to the difference between them and tournaments, I tend to play way too LAG in them
