Default 11s Top Pair OOP, large field

No converter that I could find works with Full Tilt - please let me know if you found one!

Anyway, here is the hand:

$11s right in the beginning. Everyone has about t1,500

Hero posts the small blind of 15
BB posts the big blind of 30

Dealt to Hero [9d Ks]
3 Calls
1 Fold
3 Calls
Hero calls 15
BB checks
*** FLOP *** [7s 9s 2h] Pot = t240

[OK, so here is the first issue - what do we do here with such a large field and top pair?]

Hero bets 180
1 fold
UTG+1 calls 180
1 fold
MP2 raises to 360
3 Folds

[Next question - can we actually fold given the pot odds? We got 1 caller and a raiser, but I think not]

Hero calls 180
UTG+1 calls 180
*** TURN *** [7s 9s 2h] [3d] pot = t1,350
Hero checks
UTG+1 bets 1,110, and is all in
MP2 calls 1,110, and is all in
Hero: this hand can't be good
Hero folds

Results in white:

UTG+1 shows [8d 8s]
MP2 shows [9c Qh]
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 3,540 | Rake 0
Board: [7s 9s 2h 3d 4c]

i think either push or fold the flop raise, with a lean towards fold. turn play is pretty standard given kicker and the fact that it's early. applaude your discipline rather than lament the result

Reverse implied odds hand sir. Fold pre, if you get into trouble with marginal top pair hands.

As played, I fold to the flop min raise.

I fold preflop. I never bother getting involved with TPGK at this stage of the tourney in a pot like this. The players are going to be going crazy and you never know where you stand. I just check/fold most of the time. In a 3-way or headsup pot I will lead out for 2/3 pot and then reevaluate.

Default You cannot fold preflop

OK, I don't understand the two posters who said fold preflop.

Don't you realize that you're getting 15:1 pot odds!!!

Remember, we're in the small blind here...

If you're gonna call because of pot odds, then play the flop only when you know you'll win those chips already in the middle. If you're gonna play the hand as you did when you flop TP, then limping will cost you a lot of chips in the long run. The reverse implied odds are HUGE.

If you limp, you'll need at least 2 pair or trip 9s to play the flop with any kind of confidence.

Folding preflop relieves you of the temptation to lose a good chunk of your stack.

Edit: Not to mention there is a very good chance that there will be one fewer players in the tournament after this hand is over, which is always a plus.

Yeah, I check/fold the flop (after completing preflop). OOP, TP just isn't good enough.
