I only just started with the first one, but I have some ideas/thoughts.
For thousands of years, enlightened masters have been teaching, in one way or another, that all is one. Everything is emptiness. Everything is conciousness. Or even, everything is God. The point is: all is one. They say that differences are only made in the mind. Once this is fully realized, all personal suffering supposedly ends. But, doesn't this come very close to what science is 'discovering' now? That the whole universe is made up out of the same essence? |

[/ QUOTE ] I liked the first 2/3 of Elegant Universere more than the last bit. Fabric of the Cosmos is worth reading, if you like this sort of stuff. I really enjoyed Fabric and have read some parts of it 3 or 4 times. |

[/ QUOTE ] It is correct there are books outlining correlations between some (particularly eastern) philosophies/religions and modern physics. Many people interpret this as some sort of evidence that ancient mystics' ideas are somehow another way of looking at physics - or that modern physics is somehow validating these old teachings. There are many more differences than "similarities". |
