Default Ice water diet...

I've heard that if you drink ice water (must be very cold) it aids in weight loss. It seems that the body temp. is raised w/ the introduction of the cold water, producing a thermogenic effect, so more calories are burned than if you drink something that is not as cold. has anybody had any experience w/ this approach?

Also, if anyone wants to critique my low carb/energy drink diet please go ahead..
Breakfast - 2 cans of sugar free energy drink (red bull, monster etc.) I find that this suppresses my hunger.
Lunch - big salad w/ grilled chicken, egg whites, avocado, tomatos and olive oil and vinegar.
Dinner - A steak or a piece of salmon a salad of lettuce, crumbled blue cheese and olive oil.
Black coffee and water throughout the day to suppress hunger.

Ice water information.

Cliff's notes: yes, it helps you burn calories but not very many.

That diet doesn't actually sound too bad. You would probably benefit from a small breakfast. And small snacks throughout are usually good too. The south beach diet is a bit like what you are doing (but with breakfast and small snacks), reading up on that might be helpful.

The diet sounds fine, but it is not healthy to be pumping yourself full of caffiene all day. Try to drink less coffee and no redbull, and don't skip breakfast. Eat like a banana egg whites. Skipping the meal and replacing it with redbull just increases heart rate while slowing down overall metabolism.

It would be difficult to consume a breakfast less healthy than that one.

I used to know a lot of people into that ice water diet. Of course, I was in high school then and they were girls.

How about two glazed donuts and a large coffee w/ cream and sugar. Thats my usual breakfast. That why I weigh 220lbs. on a 5' 8" frame, need to do something - figured the sugar free energy drinks are an improvement, I am really lethargic in the mornings and I usually am not in the mood to eat a big breakfast

This would probably be better for you, not from a weight-loss standpoint of course, but a nutritional one... Which goes to show how nutritionally worthless energy drinks are.

The suggestion to eat a banana and some egg whites (with some black coffee, perhaps) was a good one.
