I check behind here a lot on the flop. That being said, I think the turn call is fine, but he has to expect a river call so I probably wouldn't give it to him.

Are you both saying you don't check behind a lot here on the flop? Why not? I mean, if you are always betting every flop, then fine, bet this flop, too. But if you're not just fundamentally saying that you should always be CBing the flop HU in position then I don't see why you wouldn't check this flop. Most likely he has 1-4 to beat you. The best way to get money out of him is going to be to induce a bluff on the turn. And if he happens to have a monster, checking is going to be oh-so-sweet.

right. and when you factor in how much bluffing/semibluffing should be (i can't make a claim that it is going on, i haven't watched or played w bld in ages) going on in these HU pots, i would desperately want to play a big pot.

OK, fair enough... I am probably closer to 50/50 here, but whatever. I don't think we're really disagreeing. It is also obviously image and opponent dependent.

turn is close to never a raise. given you just called though, the river is close. depends on what he thinks of you, but i don't think a call is bad at all. for those saying that OP called the turn so bld expects a call on the river, well, that's just not how poker works folks.

that's not what anyone is saying. they are saying that with this line and this board he has to expect you to call. that IS how poker works...
