Sunday night & Monday in Vegas what rooms are happening?
Debating where to stay. We come in on Sunday & leave Tuesday night. We'd like to play anything from to 2-4 to 4-8 limit and possibly 100 NL. We just don't want to walk into an empty or soon to be empty room.

Wynn, Bellagio, Venetian, and MGM. They will have the most tables going at those limits. If you want to play 2-4 the only choice is MGM, the V's lowest is 3-6 and the B/W lowest is 4-8.
The MGM 4-8 may not get going until midafternoon those days. edit: I am referring to limit games only. Have fun! |

I would avoid 2/4 like the plague. There is not much difference between 3/6 and 4/8, but there is a world of difference between 2/4 and 3/6.
The NL games at those places are all above $100 maximum buy in. The Venetian is $200 max (1/2 blinds), the Wynn has no max buy in (1/3 blinds), and the Bellagio has a $300 max I beleive on their lowest game. Venetian on Sunday night had about 18-21 tables going. |

Re: Sunday night & Monday in Vegas what rooms are happening?
All of the above. Rake is $4 max (one big bet), players that are playing it are intentionally playing in the LOWEST AVAILABLE STRUCTURED GAME IN VEGAS.
3/6 or 4/8 is not great either, I assure you, but is certainly better then the bottom of the barrel sludge that 2/4 is, hence none of the big boys spreads it (Venetian, Bellagio, Wynn). If I want to play bingo, I'll go to my local Church. |

(I know, I know, you didn't say that, and I wouldn't be thrilled about playing 2/4 either, but it seems to me that the quality of the players is going to be the best thing 2/4 has going for it, not some weird downside.) |

Re: Sunday night & Monday in Vegas what rooms are happening?
Not at all. I normally play NL, where people generally do respect raises, but that is a different story all together.
Maybe its just me, but quality of players notwithstanding, 2/4 is really almost strictly a luck game. Fun, recreational, social? Absolutely! But there's no outplaying there, there's no tough contemplative calls, there's not even any real decision making. Everything I like about poker (i.e. the "challenge"), it pretty much lacks. But like I said, that is just me. I cut my teeth playing 2/4 years ago, and still sit down at it when my Dad wants to play, but strictly for the aspects I described above (i.e. social, recreational, etc), not for making any real money. |

If you wanna play low limits, the players are all horrible, and I think nearly every casino will have at least one table of low limit games running. I stayed at the MC last weekend for WSOP, and at 6 AM they still had 3-6 tables and 2 1/2 NL afaik. Not bad for a tiny room at 6 AM.

Re: Sunday night & Monday in Vegas what rooms are happening?
It plays like a 1/3 with no max.
Really, it is generally more action, and the stacks are usually pretty deep ($300 is usually the minimum that any player starts with. $100 bills play, so you will often see a few hundreds under the stacks. Plays differently then a capped 1/2m but not as much different as people think. Just play your A game, and you should be fine. Preflop raises is usually the standard 4-5 chips, with some tourist usually spicing up the game with loose calls and even looser all ins. I have played it exactly twice and did well both times, by doubling through some European tourists. YMMV |
