Default Pocket Kings in the hole--but I\'m playing the board. Help!

Live 2/4 at Showboat AC. 10 Handed.

Table is very bad in terms of profitability--I only played maybe 2.5 orbits then got up and headed elsewhere.

No particular reads at this time on any of the players, other than that they didn't seem like complete donks. As a whole there's usually only 4-5 players to a flop and the table is not very passive (which is why I left).

Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, 3 folds, Hero raises, Button and blinds fold,, limpers all call.

Flop (4 players, 9.5 SB): 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
3 checks, Hero bets, 3 calls.

Turn (4 players, 6.75 BB): 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
3 checks, Hero bets, 3 calls.

River (4 players, 10.75 BB): 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
UTG bets, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, Hero...?

I'm playing the board here. Does no one have a 7 often enough for me to call for 1 bet?

You're getting under 4:1 on the call and you're really only worried about UTG having you beat. I think it's a call.

I would call because I don't think most donks are sophisticated enough to go for overcalls on the river with a larger straight in the shoes of the callers.

This would make me only fear UTG but because the pot is large and donks LOVE to bet out when a straight is on the board, I would call.

Nope. We're calling for one fourth of the pot.

he's hoping for a split, so he's playing for 10.75 / 4 = 2.7 BBs.

it's true that we're only worried about UTG, but the presence of the other callers is killing our pot odds. i don't think this is a terrible place to fold, but i'd probably call.

Yea, we're getting 13.75/4 = just under 3.5 to 1 on our call, since there's no way for us to win the whole pot. At the time I was worried about the callers--judging by the responses, in the future, I should just think of them as lowering my pot odds?

Nope, it's 2.7 to 1.

If we call, the total pot will be 14.75BB; and if we split, we will win 1/4 of the pot = 3.7. Since it costs us 1 bet to call, we're only getting 2.7:1.

Buckmulligan, the reason I ignored the extra 3 BB in my original post is because we're not calling with any hope of winning those bets. If there is a split, it will be equivalent to each player taking back their river bet, and then splitting the post-turn pot.

Maybe the better way to look at it is to say that we win 1/4 of those 3 river bets, but also lose 3/4 of our river bet. Those 2 amounts cancel.

tourne, Let's check this again here.

In one instance you are getting 10.75:1. In the second you are getting 13.75:1. The three bets to you are part of the pot and are not insignificant.
