Default a few questions re: \"business outing\"

sup oot,
the director of my dept. thought it necessary that i have a mentor here at work. i just met my mentor, and she is the VP of another branch of the company. she gave me two tickets for the company's suite at tonight's Reds game. she said that she will be there, and I assume other high ranking people will too, along with some customers. I work for a very large corporation, so I doubt I'll know any of the people at the game.

what should I wear to the game? normally, I'd wear cargo shorts with a polo shirt and sandals - is this appropriate? keep in mind, i want to make a good impression on these people and i'd like to represent the company well. also, does anyone have any tips with making small talk with these people? i'm a natural introvert and go out of my way to not make a bad impression by being quiet and staying out of the way, this leaves a not-good impression. help me out, oot!!

Are you leaving from work to go to the game? If you have the opportunity to change, I would probably go with a business casual type outfit. I think a golf shirt and khakis work.

However when I went to the company's luxury box at Yankee stadium, the whole group was in their suits minus the jacket.

Business casual is the correct choice.

Khakis and golf shirt at the minimum.

Also, have a drink or two before the game to loosen you up. Beer, wine or vodka - nothing too stenchy.

A jockstrap, combat boots, and a light coat of baby oil. It's a business outing, dress as you would at work or business casual.

2/325,
You don't want pics.

All,
The dress code at work is business professional. Does that change anything?

Seriously. Ask your mentor. This is a perfectly normal question for you to ask. Why take chances on what OOT thinks?

Cargo shorts and sandals are not appropriate no matter what anybody tells you, even the mentor. As has been said in the thread, khaki trousers and golf shirt at a minimum if you have time to change. You can't go wrong your first time there showing up in your work clothes. It means you didn't have time to change and won't be underdressed. You can always take off a tie, you can't fix shorts and sandals.

I'd wear what you wore to work sans tie.
