I used to, and still do, love spies and secret agents.

When I was a kid, I'd make up "dead letter boxes" with my friends, and was always checking to see if I was being "shadowed". Invisible ink was awesome too.

One thing I did pick up is that to check for "tails", you need to do a manuever called a switchback. Basically a well trained agent will never let you out his site if he's following you - so if you suspect you're being followed, head for a double escalator.

By the time you get to the top of the escalator, your tail will need to be on the bottom at least, to avoid letting you out his site. When you get to the top, switch back to the down escalator and watch all the people coming up on the opposite escalator, and who switches onto the down escalator at the top to follow you. That's your man.

So post away - I wanna know other methods to avoid tails, switch stuff, and if anyone knows how to kill a man with your bare hands, post that too.

an ex green beret ex boss of mine once told me that the key to killing someone without others knowing is to insert a sharp blade into the the small gap on the adam's apple (it's just below your jaw and you can feel it with your fingers). that will cut through the windpipe and not let the victim cry out. not sure if this is true as i haven't tried it out myself.

Use multiple tails to give the guy who uses the switchback techniqe a false sense of security. Then when alone stick a knife in his throat for being such a pain in the ass.

This is an awesome idea for a thread. I really have no additions other than, always have a safebox, with a clean pair of clothes, some cash, passports etc, buried somewhere, in case you are ever in trouble and need to make a quick getaway.

Apparently there are devices (like this one on eBay) that let you look into peepholes. Kind of like what Kramer did to prevent being ambushed.

One part of the brain is creative, the other is for more concrete stuff. A basic lie detector is to ask a control question, that no one would have any reason to lie about, and see which way their eyes move. Presumably they're not lying, and will move their eyes in accordance with the side of the brain they're using to recall real information. Then ask about the subject they might be lying about. If their eyes go in the same direction they did with the control question, they're telling the truth. If they go in the other direction, they're being creative, or lying.

if you have a safe with a keycode, put a thin level of talcum powder over the keys and then blow it off when you re-enter.

also next time you leave your room, put a grenade under your pillow with a pin almost out of it, and if you come back and someone is dead on the floor and the window is blown out, you know someone has been trying to violate your privacy.
