OK, so I know everyone is pissed about Party's new promotion, people have cahsed out of Party, claim they will never play there again etc.
What we have to realize is that there is no way this promotion is going away. Party has launched a large ad campaign promoting the Monster, and they are not going to back down. The early results have shown that people are still playing ring games at party, and if anything, traffic has increased since the start of the promotion. What we need to do is realize that despite the extra rake being paid by thousands of players, Party is giving away over 16 million dollars for free (yes I know Party takes a fee from the BBJ) and if the current rate of growth for the monster jackpot remains the same, there is going to be a tournament in 8 months that will have a 35-40 million dollar prize pool. Now this tournament will have less than 8000 players in it, guaranteed. This means that everyone playing will have $4500-$5500 in value. Of course this value means nothing if you donk out in the first hour. So I am proposing that we set up some kind of official 2+2 % trade for the Monster. I feel like we could get alot of 2+2ers together and share winnings equally, that would help reduce the variance and get all of us closer to the $5000 of value. If the Monster is a $40 million tournament, and they use the same payout structure as the weekly and monthly freerolls, the payouts will look like this: Placed Players % Paid Amount Paid 1 1 12.50% $5,000,000 2 1 10.00% $4,000,000 3 1 5.00% $2,000,000 4 1 3.00% $1,200,000 5 1 2.00% $800,000 6 1 1.50% $600,000 7 1 1.00% $400,000 8 1 0.75% $30000 9 1 0.50% $200,000 10 1 0.25% $100,00 11 to 20 10 0.12% $48,000 21 to 50 30 0.11% $44,000 51 to 100 50 0.10% $40,000 101 to 200 100 0.09% $36,00 201 to 300 100 0.08% $32,00 301 to 400 100 0.07% $28,000 401 to 600 200 0.06% $24,000 601 to 800 200 0.05% &$20,000 801 to 1,000 200 0.04% $16,000 1,000 100% $40,000,000 So basically I was wondering if anyone thought this would be a good idea. I don't know if something like this would be legal, but trading %'s of each other in tournaments is done all the time. Setting this up in a fair secure way may be a logistical nightmare, but the initial phase should just be to see if there is enough interest to pursue it anyway. Go ahead and post your thoughts, good or bad. |

Good luck getting someone who wins a couple million bucks to split that up 300 ways after the fact.

it's a good idea and it would be legal and totally normal in a live game but there is no way to do with people online. trying to form an agreement with gamblers who i don't know and one of their primary weapons in their arsenal is to lie just sounds like a recipe for disaster. to make a long story short...nope.

Hey, Lots, you may be onto something here - maybe I'm thinking wrong, but this sounds like a potentially great idea to me.
There are lots of ways you could structure it - trading shares is probably the most straight-forward, although you'd have to do something about security of payment. However, rather than trading shares, I'd lean toward a pooled approach that aims simply to reward the grinders for their regular daily online play - that's what many of us want, and why we're unhappy with the monster promo. One critical point, however - are tourney entries transferable? In other words, if I earn a tourney entry from my play, do I have to play the tourney, or can I sell/assign the entry to someone else? (EDIT - sorry, Granny, I didn't mean to direct this at your post, I just used the quick reply box and it came out that way - this is addressed to the group at large) |
