Default Quick ethics question...player times out ITM

I was HU in an $11 Speed and my opponent, who had a slight chip advantage, timed out with blinds at 400/800...should you sit out and wait for them to return or do you take advantage?

Just take advantage. They would almost certainly do the same to you and there is no guarantee they are coming back.

I always call every hand as quick as possible and take it down. I guess I never thought about the ethics of this situation, but I don't feel too bad for someone who is at least getting second place money.

Wouldn't it atleast be courteous to sit out for 5 mins and give them a chance? I know 95% of players wouldn't even consider doing this, but I didn't feel right chipping away at him

It would be a kind gesture to allow them time to get back, but it's not unethical to do otherwise. In playing online these tournaments with the timeout structure the way it is, the player is agreeing that if they time out, their blinds will be posted and folded. If they don't agree to that, then they shouldn't be playing.

take their blinds until they have 1BB, then sit out and wait for them to return.

I take their blinds and expect them to do the same to me. I am not damaging my hourly rate because someone's connection goes down.
