Depends on what you play. $2-5 NL or low limits probably Harrah's NKC

Check out the thread linked under Kansas City - I think one of the other rooms offers higher NL and limit action, I forget which one though.

I thought Isle of Capri was mostly $4/8 limit but I could be wrong.

I checked the Wiki, it looks as if there are new places to play a decent mid-limit game anywhere around the Kansas City area. I'll be visiting Kansas City this fall, can someone advise if this is incorrect, or if there are private games that cannot publicly be discussed please PM me if they want my tourist action

If you want to play NL, Harrah's North KC is the place to go, they always have 2-5 NL running and on Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm a $5-10 NL game has been running (they take a list all day then kick it off at 7pm)

$2-5 has $100-300 buyin
$5-10 has $300 min, no max buyin*

*One thing to caution you on - Missouri law only allows you to buy $500 in chips every 2 hour block (4pm-6pm,6pm-8pm,etc) so if your playing $5-10NL on a Friday or Saturday I would get there ealier in the day so that you have $1000-1500 (or whatever you like to buyin to 5-10 with) by 7pm when the game starts

If you PM me before coming into Kansas City - if I happen to be there I can sell you $1500 out of my pocket without a problem - just need to find an area in the casino w.o. cameras (read: bathroom)

Then while you are out here just color up chips at the end and only cash out everything on your last session

If you want limit holdem, Ameristar has 15-30 limit

There are also $2-5 games at Ameristar and now at Argosy casino, I have found Ameristar games to be tight and I havent had a chance to head over to Argosy
