Default knowing your drivers license #

is this common?

I just got pulled over for expired registration. I lost my license last weekend, but I had my passport with me. I gave it to the cop and he asked for my dl #. I told him I had no idea and he looked at me like I had three heads. he searched the system for my info (my license is from out of state). he couldn't find it acted like I was a criminal for not knowing my dl #. told me he was going to impound my car. said "how hard should I have to search for your info? that's not my job, its your job to know it." (i wanted to say "it is your [censored] job actually" but I kept my mouth shut). he eventually found the info and let me go, so no big worry.

but does ANYONE actually have their dl # memorized?

Never had a clue what my DL# was until I moved to LA. Comes up alot here for some reason, nowhere else (like, Adelphia asks me for my DL# - wtf). I used to live in NY and SF.

This could be selective memory.

I have my DL# and American Express card number, including verification code, memorized.

Same, only substitute AmEx card for MC and 2 Visas. Also add in the VIN number for 2 cars. I memorize pretty much any long string of letters/numbers which might be nice to know.
