Getting a Haircut: Where do you go and what do you ask for?
I go to a place called "John and Son's Barbershop" in Halifax, MA. Its just the father and son cutting hair, no appointments, just a deli counter on the wall to take a ticket and wait. A lot of young people will pass if its the father calling their number, but I think they do an equally good job. Some people are just friends with the son.
It costs $10 with tip and they do the awesome hot shaving foam and straight edge on the back of your neck deal. When I go in I usually ask for "a short fade, not military short, but pretty short on the top. Like a 2 on the sides. Do whatever you like with the sideburns and the back." I will ask them to go a little shorter if I think its too long, but other than that I won't nitpick and let them do their thing.

Just got one from a place on State St. called Nogginz. It's the gayer version of the Badger Haircut place down the street. They cut hair better.
I used to try to get a short fade but I've found that white people are incapable of doing it correctly. I just ask for Ceasars now and take what I get.

I usually let a roommate cut my hair but if I do go somewhere I just go to Great Clips and ask for a #4 buzz.

i'm in summer buzz cut mode. use my own clippers. 1/8" attachment all around. i have no idea how i lived with hair down to my arse for so many years. the buzz cut is gold, pure gold.

I usually say I just want it pretty short. Then they ramble off the cutter lengths which I have no clue about. I then again say, cut it short. And they usually do just that. I suck at getting my hair cut I guess. [img]/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

anybody tried "Sport Cuts" where the girls are obligated to learn about and discuss sports with the clientele? sounds ridiculous to me but a brief trip report might be amusing.
