OT- What\'s the best way to invest in this poker boom?
Aside from +EV play what's a good way to passively invest in poker?
With a record WSOP main event field and internet poker doing great business thre must be a way to wisley invest in some public companies that are benficiaries here. the only 2 i can come up with are Cryptologic (CRYP) and Harrah's (HET). I heard Harrah's is taking about 4% from the prize pool (lot of players not happy about this - especially in the HORSE event) and on top of that they are getting big bucks from corporate sponsors like Milwaukee's Best (yuk!), party poker (for having their logo on all the felt) and ESPN TV revenue. CRYP make sinternet poker software and casino software. but i don't know if all the big sites use ther stuff or not. Party Gmaing is traded only on the London Stock Exchange. I do know they announced a great quarter recently. Anyone have any thoughts on how to profit from this boom? |

Confused beat me to it. But I was going to say stake someone who's very good but very busto and desperate. That way you can screw them on the deal.

Re: OT- What\'s the best way to invest in this poker boom?
The easiest way would be to invest in online poker rooms or companies that recieve a large amount of business because of poker, such as Netteller.
However, I think you might be late in jumping in on the poker boom, as poker has been expanding rapidly for the past few years. Also, new US legislation threatens to damage the online industry. In this uncertin enviornment, I think it might be best to invest elswhere. This way if the poker boom slows or if this new US legislation criples the industry, all of your "eggs won't be in one basket." |

As the bill gets closer and closer for a vote on the senate floor hedge party poker by buying calls and puts.

Can't you buy Party in the US (PYGMF.PK)? I agree with mwgr5. I think the "boom" part is already sort of over.
