The "Do I Need to See This Movie" Thread

Simple, someone throws out the name of a movie that they hear a lot about but haven't gotten around to seeing for whatever reason, and other people respond with a "must-see" or "you can live without it" in their own words, and perhaps an explanation. Really subjective obviously, assume an average movie goer's mentality.

Edit: by "must-see," I mean "you should go out and rent this the next time you hit the video store."

I'll start:

2001: A Space Odyssey.

For 2001: You can probably live without it. I wasn't particularly impressed, although I don't have much of a good reason why.

Definitely a must see. I'd say the book is a must read as well. High art, with a lot of depth.

I would put 6th sense and rainman in the "watch when they're on TBS and you have nothing to do" category.
