Default So we are not allowed to discuss the idea of a turbo tournament now?

Please don't be offended. If you don't want to discuss WW scoring systems, feel free not to read the thread.

On the off chance that this discussion is okay, I'd like to know what people didn't like about my scoring system:

[ QUOTE ]

Surviving members of the winning team : one point for each member of the opposing team that started the game.

Dead members of the winning team: 0 points

Memebrs of the loosing team : -1 point for each member of the surviving member of the winning team.

The total points awarded for each game is 0, so all games count the same.

[/ QUOTE ]

I assume the problem is that it doesn't reward self-sacrifice plays, but I think that surviving should be a goal of the game. After all, what good is a village without warewolves if you aren't alive to see it.

If you really want a team game, then I would sugest one of the following systems:

WIN FAST

Winning team members (weather they survive or not):

(number of members of the loosing team) x (number of survivors from the winning team)

Loosing team members:
-(number of members of the winning team) x (number of survivors form the winning team)

JUST WIN:

members of the winning team (weather they survive of not)recieve one point for each member of the loosing team that started the game. Members of the loosing team loose on point for each member of the winning team that started the game.

I have posted these systems in the order in which I prefer them.

Does anyone have any better ideas. (If you thing scoring is a bad idea entirely, feel free to post why, but please don't get anoyed and ask that the thread be locked. After all, no one is making you read this thread.)

jstn,

[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] for the effort, but I really don't think this idea is ever going to catch on. "Best WW player" is full of so many grey areas that any attempt to really capture it in a number is futile. It's like in any major sport. It's easy to count up the homeruns and see who hit the most of them and give that guy a trophy for hitting the most homeruns. It's not so easy so quantify the MVP award. People have to vote on it. Sure, you could keep track of the number of times a player was on the winning team, and then give that player an award for that. However, if we are trying to decide who is the best WW player, a vote is the only way to do it. And I feel that any vote (even anonymous) would create too many hard feelings amongst poggers. Right now, I love the atmosphere of POG and all of the people on it. I love the different personalities mingling and the fun that we can have at a moment's notice. What I don't want to see happen to POG is that it will have it's first ever oot-style Dramabomb and then it won't be as fun any more. Let's keep it the way it is. If it gets too stale, we'll know it and something will happen. We're already inventing new games to play almost every day. We have gone through so many different variants of WW on this board, and tons of other games (clue, wheel of fortune, scattergories, etc) and that's not even mentioning the unique and awesome long games that we have. The moral of the story is that POG is too fun as it is to change anything as drastically as implementing a scoring system would. I applaud your effort in coming up with this, but I have to respectfully disagree with idea.

Be honest....

Who here stared at IBTL for a full 20 seconds before they figured out what it stood for.
