I am button w/J2o. SB is horrible, plays any two. BB is overly tight on the blinds and a predictable and readable player. My table image is aggressive preflop.
Fold to me, I raise, SB calls, BB 3 bets, I call, SB calls. 9 small bets. Flop is Q,Q,J rainbow. SB checks, BB bets, I ?? I'm getting 10:1, too much to give this up. He could play this way w/ATs, TT, 99, AK, among others. So I raise, I will give up on the turn if reraised or bet into on the turn. I got a lot of "advice" on this hand. Your thoughts? |

Fold preflop. J2o is a terrible stealing hand against a guy who will play "any 2." Then when BB 3-bets, you may consider folding again, even getting 8:1, with a hand as bad as J2o.
If I made it to the flop, I'd just call. Also, given your comment that BB could have ATs, TT, 99, AK, other hands, plus hands that beat you, it seems that you're lying about him being a predictable and readable player. So yeah, this hand sucks. Sorry. |

[/ QUOTE ] If I just call, I have no idea where I'm at, and I'm going to be facing another bet on the turn (and the small blind stays in, potentially causing me trouble if I'm ahead of the big blind, and an A or K hits). Given I am where I am, shouldn't I raise, and try to get to the river without facing additional bets? |

Given I am where I am, shouldn't I raise, and try to get to the river without facing additional bets? [/ QUOTE ] No. It's a bad way to represent a Q -- by raising PF and raising the flop. He'll know you don't have one. So he'll never fold a worse hand. What hands are you trying to get him to fold? A hand with some overcard outs, I suppose -- Ks and As. But Ax and Kx may check-fold this turn anyway. If they don't, they'll have 3 outs and be calling incorrectly. I just don't understand why you want to make it to showdown but also want to put more bets into the pot. If you raise and he checks the turn, are you betting? You should. If so, how is that cheaper than just calling the flop and turn? |

I agree with folding preflop especially with a SB that is going to call with any two. Postflop: If you raise the flop you may get it heads up and get the SB to fold, but I think that calling and raising a safe turn for a free showdown is way better. This way if he 3 bets or you dont get your FSD you can fold. Only if you really want to take J2 to SD. I still think that folding PF is way better.
