Default HU and short-handed play strategies?

I was wondering how you adjust your games to play HU stud or short-handed. Are you more aggressive with your high cards? Do you always complete if you have the highest card? Do you slow-play wired or split pairs? Or do you jam the pot? Do you bet your draws more often?

I would like to hear people's comments and suggestions. Thank you.

Howdy, I believe we mixed it up at a heads up table last night. In general, heads up play is much more about reacting to your opponent than it is about the cards. Check out the 1,000-2,000 heads up stud hand between David Singer and Ram Vaswami in this forum a day or so back, in which Singer was ramming and jamming a pair of 5s.

In stud, the total dead money in a pot goes down as the number of players goes down, unlike in holdem. The bring-in moeny compensates for this some, but overall this means that you don't have to loosen up as much as in holdem. Still overall yes you should play aggressively. The section in 7CSFAP is indeed helpful, but as MRBAA says a lot will have to do with figuring out what your opponents are up to.

its basically im trying to adjust to NL strategy, and im testing the waters quite a bit over there apparently. you should know i didnt mean to get on your nerves at all man.

i basically played small stakes NL for a little bit and then went pretty much full time limit games (holdem, stud, mixed games, tons of different games). so im trying to get myself to play deep stack high limit games which is something i feel is my weakest spot, obviously as you can see.

I was just kidding around -- kind of making the point that once you get into a head up match there's a lot of "he thinks that I think that he thinks..." type reasoning.

yeah absolutely, and i think im very good at that, especially in stud, i just am forgetting what i learned before in lower NL games and trying to re-learn my thought processes.

you gonna play any of the HORSE games on stars? i play all live basically but im gonna have to start playing online for the HORSE games b/c i love that game. i wish they had triple draw in it though!
