I took a screenshot of a poker table and I want to clip out part of it and use it as an avatar. Normally I just do this in paintbrush because it's free and I know how to use it. I took the screenshot and pasted it into MS Word and saved it (for lack of a better place). It has good resolution when I open it in Word, but when I try to paste it from Word into Paintbrush it shows up all grainy.
I suspect it has something to do with the formatting, something like it should be opening as a JPEG and instead it opens as a BMP possibly. Is there any way to get a screen shot that has been pasted into MS Word and saved to open in Paintbrush and not be grainy? Or is there another program I can use to clip out part of my screen shot? I'm not willing to pay for it or go to a lot of hassle to install it so no Photoshop or anything like that. Any suggestions? |

Why not just paste it right into Paintbrush?

I should have but I didn't. I pasted it into Word and then copied it from there so the original memory of the screen shot was erased (or at least I think so). I didn't know any better and I thought it didn't make any difference.
