Default Soccer blog previewing English Premiership

I started a soccer blog a few days ago and am currently previewing all the English Premiership teams.

With all the recent soccer threads having people wondering what team to support and looking for some info on teams I figured it would be interesting to some of you. I just finished up Tottenham.

It's a simple LJ blog so there's no ads, affiliate links or anything so I hope this is ok to post. If not my apologies and any mod feel free to take it down.

Cool.

FWIW, ESPN has a preview of the Championship and League 1/2.

What does this phrase mean, "Leroy Lita (15 goals in 25(7) appearances)"? He played in 25 games, but was a sub in 7 of them?

Yes, 25 games he started and 7 he was subbed on, for a total of 32 games played.

I saw some odds that like the chalk was 2-5, 3 others were 5-1 and everyone else was like 100-1 (like 20 other teams?). That kind of stinks. I like the way our leagues are set up with revenue sharing, etc. better.

things are getting more evened out now. Any club that gets relegated gets a parachute payment for two years after their relegation. Its hard to do pure revenue sharing when there is turnover in the divisions every year. Granted, the Premiership teams should divide the TV money more evenly between them and send more money down the leagues, but things are tons better then they were 5/6 years ago during the summer of madness

it was back in 00 or 01. It was when transfer fees were through the roof. Many of the big Clubs on teh European continent had just gotten massive Pay-TV deals from satallite stations and in England Sky came in for an insane TV deal and there was the whole big ITV deal for the lower leagues. Clubs were spending so much money, and many were floating on the stock markets so they would get massive cash injections from the IPOs. It lead to some clubs going under(the current Fiorentina isn't the original Fiorentina, the Chechi-Gori family still owns that property, but in name only, the current Fiorentina was resurected from teh rubble of defaulting and they started off three divisions down from serieA(serieC2) and through fan support and what not are where they are now) and many ending up in recievership. Many clubs across europe are still feeling the ramifications from it
