I usually don't post much and if I do it takes a pretty spectacular hand to make me do so. The hand in question happened at a good live 5-5 NL game. Right before this particular hand I fired a 3-barrel bluff and showed on the river against a tight asian player. It went something like this:
Three limpers, A.P. raises to 25, 1 caller, I call in the big blind with 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], limpers call. Flop comes 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I lead out for 50 and only A.P. calls. turn is the 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and I lead for 150 he calls. River is 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and I push all in for about 800 and he folds after some deliberation. I show and everyone see's and enjoys(I had shown one other bluff but also a few very strong made hands that were not shown down ie. sets, overpairs). I guess my table image is that I'm tightish/aggressive and not afraid to gamble my chips. The very next hand I'm in the SB with 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Utg raises to $25, villain calls, button calls and I call(BB folds). Utg is unknown, villain is a loose gambling-type player who seems to be experienced and a semi-berater of poor plays. Button is a friend of mine who is tight and passive and is not used to playing NL with stacks over 1k so he's a little timid. Four to the flop of: T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] OESD + FD + GSSFD = pretty decent. I decide to lead out for $45. Utg calls, villain calls, button calls. 285 in pot. Turn is: T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Checked around to button who bets $100. The other two players don't seem too pleased with the board development from their checks. I decide to push all-in for $1215 but accidentally string raise and put in $1115, leaving me $100 behind. Utg folds, villain thinks for-EVER. I start to wonder if my showed bluff on the last hand is running through his mind if he really does have a made hand here. He has me just covered. The button as I said is quite timid and would lay MANY hands down here. Finally villain counts out 11 $100 bills and 3 red chips and announces "call". My heart sinks. Button gives a loud sigh and thinks for a few minutes, shakes his head and tosses the hand. Yikes, well this just sucks as now I'm not even sure if I like my flush draw. I figure the straight is my only real hope now. The river is: T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Wow! I gleefully place my last $100 in front of me, quite confident that my straight is going to scoop this large pot. Then I hear, "I call! I have the nuts." And I am shown K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]???? Did this guy really just call $1115 more into a $385 pot with THAT with another player left to act!? Well folks, he did....he really did. Witnessing perhaps one of the worst calls I've seen in a very long time I got up quietly and went for an omelette at the restaurant to think about the treachury that just ensued. Is it possible that if the river missed us both I could bet my last $100 and take the pot with zero? Is it ironic that the card I thought would be my best card was the worst card, and that a lowly offsuit 7 or 8 would be better?? Anyways, I'm off to bed now to dream about cracking that guys skull open and urinating in the fracture. Good night all. BTW I was going to post this in the NL section because I'm still learning that game. Any comments on the way the hand(s) were played are appreciated. |

I forgot to mention that my friend on the button folded a set of 5's. We were laughing after because he runs pretty hot and the guys call made him fold the set which would have lost to me anyways lol. What do you think of his fold? I think if I were him given the players involved and the way the hand was playing out it's a call.

So you lead out into pre flop raisers whenever you have a draw then? Or do you do it with made hands as well?

I got the money in just fine dum-dum. He's 1.9% to win on the flop against the set and my draw and only 14.2% on the turn. Please think before you post. And die too.
