AC trip in a couple of weeks....

Hey all. One of my poker buddies is just turning 21 this week and we're trying to make a trip for 3-4 days to AC around the 18 of August. Anyway, I just wanted to get some input from the crowd to see what they think.

1) Our main thing will be playing cards; is the weekend going to be that much better for us to go there? We're generally 5/10 10/20 Limit players, but the occasional 1-2 NL game might be alright with us.

2) What hotel would you recommend without breaking the bank? There should be 3 of us. Poker rates on rooms at any of the casinos?

3) We'll be driving, so is there anything tricky about driving or freeways and such around AC? We'll all be first timers.

4) Anything that's a must see for us as newbies, other than raking in pots from donks?

Driving in and to AC is pretty easy. The Atlantic City Expressway appraoches from the west and eventually connects to Philadephia. The Garden State Parkway connects the ACX about 10 miles out, and runs North/South between the southern tip of NJ and NYC. There is a connector tunnel expressway that connects to the Marina Casinos (Borg, Trump Marina, and Harrah's) from the end of the ACX. AC surface streets are a pretty standard grid.

Without any prior (and it seems now, higher limit) play, you are unable to get a room for the poker rate. Especially the weekends. Look for a hotel room in Absecon, NJ, which is about 10-15 minutes away from the Borgata, which is the hotel you should go to play. There are a couple shady places in Absecon. I always stay at the Comfort Inn North, which is pretty solid in my opinion. The 1/2 NL at the Borgata is full of idiots, so beware of high variance.

yeah i stayed at comfort inn in absecon last week when i was down in AC. good rates, clean room, about 10mins from borg...too easy...
