4 dealer downs, 4 aggravating situations
I guess I'm still steaming from this last night and I want to share?...or get it off my chest...
These downs were consecutive and happened in the last 2 hours of a 9 hour session. 3-6-12 game where you can bet or raise either 6 or 12 on the river. Down 1 - Old lady dealer. She was semi-paying attention throughout her down when this hand comes up: We're on the river and I have trips, my opponent obviously has either TPTK or 2 pair. He bets out 6, I say, "raise" and reach for a stack of chips. Dealer: 12. Me: 18. Villian: Huh? Dealer: (Says to villian) Its 12 to you sir. Me: 18. Villian: (While reaching for 6 chips) Huh? Dealer: (To Villian) That's right sir, 6 more. Me: (In a voice so loud that the entire room hears me) EIGHTEEN! Dealer: Oh! Its 18 total sir. Villian: (Now aware that I have a much better hand than his), folds. Down 2 - Young cute chick dealer. As soon as she sits down, the floor comes over to discuss a money issue. Apparently her box was off by $100 and they were trying to figure it out. Hey, no problem, I understand this one completely. It took 2-3 minutes tops, they figured it out, and the game proceeded....at a snails pace. She proceeded to discuss the $100 situation with the whole left side of the table for the next 5-6 hands, slowing down the game to where I finally took am extended walk and bathroom break. Dealer 3 - Young punk dealer. I'm on the button with some lame hand on the flop and its checked around to me. I verbally check while tapping the table, but the dealer is yapping with seat #1 (I'm in seat 9) about some mutual friend. The table waits, and waits, and waits, the dealer finally turns to me and says, "Check?". I say, "Check", but he doesn't comprehend because he's now yapping with Seat 1 again. He finally turns back to me and says, "Check?", I reply, "Yes dealer, I Check for THE THIRD TIME!", again in a voice loud enough for the entire room to hear. Dealer quips in a snotty tone, "Ooooookaaaay, fine then." Dealer 4 - Another young semi-paying attention dealer. I limp early with QJ offsuit and 5 of us see the flop which comes 5 J 5. I check, someone bets, there are 2 callers, and I check-raise. The dealer, who was yapping with the other end of the table, burns and turns before the raise was called. The turn is a Q. I just hang my head. I hear a bunch of WHOA! WHOA's! The floor is called and the Q is taken back, my raise is called, the Q is shuffled back into the deck and the floor walks away. Dealer now puts a 4 on the turn. I'm reaching for chips, and the dealer burns and turns the river, a 10. WHOA! WHOA'S! again and the floor is called. By now, I just want to jam my fist down the dealers throat. We go through the whole process again, I finally bet the river, and MHIG. At this point I could feel the steam really start to boil, so I racked up and left. |

Re: 4 dealer downs, 4 aggravating situations
To the OP: I feel your pain. Just because I deal doesn't mean I would tolerate any of this less than the next guy... I've spoken with cardroom managers before about certain instances I may have encountered with dealers at different casinos. My take: I am making a very good living doing this kind of job, why disrespect it by wasting the customers time with a lousy job of dealing? They must have a different philosophy where you play!

I bet they pool their tips at that location. Ceasar's IN dealers now keep their own tips and things are improving rapidly.

Re: 4 dealer downs, 4 aggravating situations
I understand the annoyance factor with bad dealers here, but saying it so loud that the whole room notices probably means that you had long since become overly aggrevated/tiltish and perhaps should have already left.
Sounds like you were already in a REALLY cranky mood and that it would have been obvious to everyone. |

Re: 4 dealer downs, 4 aggravating situations
Whenever I see a "how easy would it be for me to become a dealer?" post on 2+2, I imagine these exact scenarios.
